Ministry of Local Government Announces Postponement of High-Level Policy Dialogue
Monrovia, Liberia — August 25, 2026: The Ministry of Local Government (MLG) announces the postponement of the High-Level Policy Dialogue on Local Governance and Decentralization, initially scheduled for August 26–27, 2026.
The dialogue has been rescheduled for September 8–9, 2026, at the JNB Conference Hall, Ministry of Local Government, in Monrovia.
The postponement is due to the Cabinet Meeting scheduled for Thursday, as well as other intervening official engagements and scheduling considerations involving key participants.
The Ministry believes the revised dates will allow for the full participation of key Ministries, Agencies, and Commissions (MACs), County Superintendents, County Service Center Coordinators, and other stakeholders whose engagement is essential to the success of the dialogue.
The two-day dialogue will focus on accelerating the implementation of Liberia’s decentralization agenda, in line with the Local Government Act of 2018 and the Government’s commitment to bringing public services and decision-making closer to citizens.
The dialogue is expected to produce a time-bound Devolution Action Plan, a Joint Inter-Ministerial Devolution Resolution, and an Implementation Matrix outlining specific institutional commitments, timelines, and requirements for transferring appropriate functions to county-level authorities.
The Ministry regrets any inconvenience caused by the change in schedule and appreciates the understanding and continued cooperation of all stakeholders and members of the media.
