Minister Francis Sakila Nyumalin Breaks Ground for JNB Mendikorma Clinic and Maternal Waiting Home in Lofa County

Mendikorma Town, Lofa County | July 20, 2026 – Liberia’s Minister of Local Government, Hon. Francis Sakila Nyumalin, has officially broken ground for the construction of the JNB Mendikorma Clinic and Maternal Waiting Home in Mendikorma Town, Tangia Administrative District, Lofa County.

The ceremony brought together county officials, traditional leaders, women and youth representatives, and residents from Mendikorma and neighboring communities. The Lofa County Health Officer and other stakeholders were also present to witness the launch of this vital project.

Project officials confirmed that site clearing has already begun, with construction materials including bricks delivered to facilitate the commencement of full-scale construction.

Speaking at the event, Minister Nyumalin emphasized that the initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to President Joseph Nyumah Boakai’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, particularly its focus on expanding access to quality and affordable healthcare services for women, children, and underserved rural communities. He reaffirmed that strengthening healthcare infrastructure remains a national priority and pledged the government’s determination to ensure rural communities benefit from essential health services.

Residents of Mendikorma and surrounding towns welcomed the project, expressing gratitude to Minister Nyumalin for championing the development. Community members described the clinic and maternal waiting home as a long-awaited intervention that will significantly improve healthcare delivery, especially maternal and child health services, in the area.

Construction is expected to proceed in phases, with the facility anticipated to enhance healthcare access for thousands of residents across Tangia Administrative District.
